4 tips to stand out to the KCLC hiring manager banner

You just saw the job you really want. You know that the process to get that job is just that…a process. Our team at KinderCare Learning Centers have the tips and tricks you need to make the process a little easier.

Just to give you some deeper insights in the process, the hiring manager will be reviewing your application after it’s passed through a recruiter review.

That recruiter review is that first check point and if your application is sent from the recruiter to the hiring manager, you’re on your way. As you process in this process, we have some tips to stand out to the hiring manager once you’ve impressed the recruiter.

In this post, we will share tips from our hiring managers! The hiring manager is the person you will be working with at the end of the process, so their insights are a really important piece of the process.

Focus on skills and accomplishments

Most resumes read like a list of duties. Your hiring manager wants to know about the things you accomplished in your current and previous roles. What did you do to make sure that the children in your care were engaged? Did you get rave reviews from parents? If you don’t have early childcare experience, talk about the accomplishments you had in your work. Did you get creative and what was the result? Did you learn something new and apply it quickly? Hiring managers want to see these accomplishments and it helps you stand out in the crowd of people who are solely focused on duties.

Tell your story

Use the space in the objectives of your resume or your application to tell the hiring manager your story. How did you discover your love of engaging children in play? How did you know that you were meant for early childhood education? Or service? Whatever your story, tell it. Help the hiring manager get to know you before you even get to interview. It will stand out. At KinderCare we want you to be your authentic self, so we want to know the real you.

Tie your story to the job

And while you’re telling your story, if you can find a way to tie it to the job you’re applying to, that will really round it all out for you AND the manager. You see, these tips are not just great for the hiring manager to get to know you, it’s also a great exercise to know why you want this role. What’s appealing to you about it? How would you bring your unique skills and insights to this job based on your unique story.

Show your passion for the job

As you think through your story, your passion should come through your experience, your objectives, and how you structure all of those things on your application. You can carry this passion through to the interview and begin thinking about the stories you will tell the recruiter and the hiring manager about how you believe you could help the hiring manager and their team shine.

While this is a process, it’s important to think through each step. We are delighted to share these ideas with you to help you Build Confidence for Life, too!
